Kelsey Buckholtz is the Director of Communications Strategy at Local Wisdom, leading the development of strategic communications plans for clients and providing copywriting services for executive, internal, and external communications.
Prior to joining Local Wisdom, Kelsey spent more than 10 years at Johnson & Johnson in Global Communications & Public Affairs in roles of increasing responsibility. Kelsey has a bachelor's degree in public relations from Penn State University and a master's degree in communications from Rutgers University.
In 2021, Kelsey wrote and published her first self-help book, Strong Calm Confident You, about her journey with anxiety, people pleasing, and perfectionism. In her free time, she coaches women who struggle with these same challenges and speaks to share her message. Kelsey lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, daughter, and their dog, Zoe.
Burnout is not a workload problem — it grows out of our attitudes, beliefs and behaviors. Kelsey shares how perfectionism and people pleasing led to her own burnout, as well as the practical tools she used and changes she made to recover and find better balance. She helps attendees identify three new boundaries and compile a self-care menu to make meaningful changes in their own lives.
A hands-on ideation session where attendees anonymously share the problems they're stuck on, then solve each other's using paper airplanes. Putting a problem out to the room makes it smaller, and helps people feel less alone with it.

Kelsey speaks to the communicator, not just the communications — burnout, boundaries and wellbeing for teams that are chronically overworked and understaffed. Get in touch to discuss availability for your conference.
