About This Talk

Teresa Palase of Pharmavite and Pinaki Kathiari tell the story of Vitality Hub, an intranet built for a workforce that doesn't all sit at a desk. It unfolds in seven chapters, and the first one isn't about technology at all. Technology can't build culture for you — it only amplifies what's already there.

From there, the team listened before they built, asking employees whether their channels served their daily needs rather than whether they liked the old intranet. They treated the intranet as a product rather than a project, launching a first version and improving it from feedback. And client, platform and agency worked as one team, adapting together whenever the plan had to change.

After launch, the work shifted to turning leaders from approvers into champions, finding employee stories instead of waiting for them, and measuring what's working so the intranet keeps getting better.

You'll leave with the specific moves that made this one stick — and a plan for making yours impossible to fail.

What Attendees Leave With

Culture first, then the platform.

You'll learn to

01
Run a communications channel survey
One that asks whether your channels serve employees' daily needs, rather than whether they like the current intranet.
02
Build a master communications calendar
Across departments, to surface message collisions and create co-launch opportunities.
03
Reframe leadership conversations
From approval requests to strategy support: "here's how the intranet helps you hit your goal."
04
Mine your organization for employee stories
Instead of waiting for submissions — and publish on colleagues' behalf.

The big ideas

01
Culture before technology
Technology can't build culture for you. It only amplifies what's already there.
02
A product, not a project
Launch a version 1, listen, and iterate. It's never finished — and waiting for perfect is how intranets die.
03
Co-creation reduces friction
Client, platform and agency working as one team. When plans change, nobody points fingers — everyone pivots together.
